Vaccinations Continue Slow Pace

At the current rate of vaccinations, most countries in Asia have a long wait to reach 75% vaccination status. Estimates from Bloomberg.com show Singapore reaching the milestone by October while others taking years if no changes are made.  We do anticipate that vaccination progress will be made in all locations which will, in some cases dramatically lower the time estimate.

At the same time, we are seeing substantial increases in Covid-19 infections in India, the Philippines and Cambodia.  To a lesser degree, there are concerning infection rates in Japan and Korea.  Updates in those locations reflect more local actions including curfews, lockdowns and extensions of other measures.

Vaccines are having an impact on travel, but only just.  In China, there are implications for visa applications.  Hong Kong and Thailand are both shortening quarantine requirements for fully vaccinated arrivals under strict protocols.  So there are positive steps forward.
