This week brings extensions for existing measures including Hong Kong and Malaysia while other locations react to rising case counts. India has increased restrictions in high-risk areas of the north and Cambodia launched lengthy prison terms for flouting virus protocols.
Vaccinations continue slowly, there are rising cases in several countries, leading to caution on reopening borders.
Midday updates:
- Japan has ended the state of emergency for the Tokyo area. It was though the strict border control measures would ease with the end of the SOE, however most foreigners remained banned from entry.
- Philippines as of today will allow entry for all citizens.
