Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia lead the region in rising cases. Vietnam is also experiencing a rapid increase in cases, doubling the total number of cases in 12 days.  Myanmar, Japan, Korea, China and Brunei are also on the rise.

 

Small changes continue across several locations.  Cambodia has closed its land border with Vietnam.  Singapore has banned arrivals from or with recent transit through Myanmar during the previous 21 days.  Thailand has halted domestic flights.
The Economist has begun tracking countries’ return to normalcy.  Comparing current to pre-pandemic levels of activities, including time not at home, road traffic, flights and sports attendance, each country is rated on progress towards normalcy.  Countries they list as moving closer to normalcy include China, India, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Taiwan.  Those moving away include Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.
