With the support of friends, clients and colleagues who met with us during the recent
and Centuro Global conferences, Relo Network Asia planted 36 trees with One Tree Planted.
We gave everyone we met the chance to vote for where to plant a tree on her/his behalf. Participation during the conferences was complicated due to the quality of the internet at the time. To make sure everyone had a chance to vote, the opportunity to vote was sent around to everyone in the weeks after the two conferences.
We selected several locations in which Relo Network Asia delivers services as options including Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. This year, in support of EuRA’s conference location, we added the option to plant a tree in Ireland as well. The Emerald Isle has the lowest forest cover out of all European countries and it received plenty of votes to help improvements.
Trees are vital to our eco-system. They help to clean the air we breathe, removing harmful pollutants and releasing clean oxygen. Trees help act as ‘carbon sinks’ to offset carbon and to reduce the effects of climate change. Trees also help capture rainwater and reduce the risk of natural disasters like floods and landslides. Biodiversity is also positively impacted by trees. One tree can be home to hundreds of species of insect, fungi, moss, mammals, and plants.
Planting trees supports UN Sustainable Development Goals:
- 6: Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all
- 13: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
- 15: Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
The Relo Network Asia team is thrilled to continue our work to support the efforts of One Tree Planted. If you would like to learn more about the organization, get involved or plant some more trees (and we hope you do!), please stop by their website at www.onetreeplanted.org
