Uber may have started the trend, but companies in Asia are taking the service further.
Go-Jek which started in Jakarta, Indonesia has launched its services in Bangkok. Beyond just a ride-hailing service, Go-Jek has a robust set of services. Aiming to be a full-service application, motorbike taxis, cars, and food delivery services are all one touch away. Upcoming plans are to enter the mobile payments market too, entering as a competitor of five existing mobile payment apps including LINE, MOBIAMO, PromptPay, PayPal and NFC (Samsung Pay)
Grab which purchased Uber’s Southeast Asia business in April of 2018 also provides ride-hailing services in Thailand. Grab Food delivers meals from your favorite restaurants and Grab Fresh offers an online grocery delivery service.
Go-Jek is making for tough competition in countries like Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines.
